Meet The Team

Owner & Lead Farmer
Mady Hastings
Hi! I am co-founder and one of the lead farmers here at URC. I am a Philadelphia native and moved to the Upstate of SC in 2014. Since then, I have married my husband Matt, and had 3 wonderful, yet feral, children. I started farming in 2021 on my home plot of land and have moved on to bigger and better pastures here in Fountain Inn. Some of my favorite things about farming are the connection with nature, nurturing the soil and plants, and the community that I have built with the people I have met in person and online.

Owner & Lead Farmer
Jody Prosser
Jody, a Connecticut native, found her passion for the outdoors early on. What began as a small-scaled hobby blossomed into a full-fledged farming journey.
In 2019, she & her husband, Troy took a leap of faith and purchased their own 52 acre farm, embarking on a mission to cultivate and provide fresh, seasonal produce to their community and local markets.
With four high tunnels on her farm, Jody's commitment to regenerative farming techniques shines through, as she nurtures the earth while reaping its bounties.
Her farm not only yields a vibrant array of flowers & heirloom vegetables but also embraces the rearing of heritage meats, honoring the traditions & flavors of the past, and introducing them to the future.
Through her efforts, Jody continues to inspire others to connect with the land, fostering a healthier & more mindful way of living.

Farm Hand
Mason
My name is Mason Bales from San Diego, CA. I am the owner and artist behind Boardwalk Bonsai. I started out selling plants on the boardwalk wall of Ocean Beach and quickly became a known local vendor. Now located in Upstate South Carolina, I have brought my creations to local markets and started to become part of this beautiful community. Soon after moving here, I met the amazing minds behind Urban Roots Collective and quickly became friends with them. Now working on the farm and being a part of the collective, my favorite aspect has to be the people I work with. It's always fun and new everyday and I am very excited to be apart of the team!
